Personal Statement
As a nursing student at the University of Michigan - Flint, I have had multiple opportunities to serve in the community and worldwide. I have been a board member for the Alternative Break (AB) programs with University Outreach three years now, serving on the executive board for Alternative Summer Break in 2017. I have attended five AB service weeks, including 3 weeks in Flint, one in Chicago and one in Philadelphia along with monthly service Saturdays in Flint during my 4 years of undergrad. I have worked with Food Recovery Network on campus, donating food to local non-profits, including St. Paul's church downtown Flint where I now have helped serve lunch every Tuesday to the less fortunate for the past year. This past fall, I organized and directed a health screening clinic with nursing faculty for those who come to lunch on Tuesdays. Last May of 2017, I participated in the medical volunteer abroad trip to Kenya with UM to provide health care to those who cannot afford it. Additionally, this May of 2018, I am going to Cambodia with nursing faculty to continue to reach areas of the world that suffer from poverty the most
