Victoria Stabile

University of Rhode Island

Victoria Stabile, a junior at the University of Rhode Island and from Paramus, New Jersey, is a student servant leader active in addressing issues of environmental sustainability, mental health awareness, hunger issues, and community engagement. Ms. Stabile inspires and engages her peers and the community at large to consider the impact they can have on community and environmental issues, and she is constantly asking herself how she can be an advocate for global issues. Through her extensive engagement and training in service and leadership, Ms. Stabile has learned that global impact can, and should, start locally, and that systemic change is possible if we collectively take responsibility for our actions and tap into our potential to be agents of social change. Ms. Stabile takes advantage of opportunities to network with peers and community members believing that in order to make lasting change we need to engage in conversation about issues facing our communities, take personal ownership of our individual roles, and develop compassion and understanding of different perspectives.

Personal Statement

I have been actively involved in community engagement since my membership with Girl Scouts and since then have continued to cultivate my understanding of ways to give back. I educated myself on ways I could align my beliefs and morals into making positive changes in my personal life and my communities. I have interests in environmental sustainability, mental health awareness, and hunger issues. My passion for hunger issues stemmed from volunteering at small local food pantries and continued to develop as I have volunteered with food banks across the nation. Thus far in my college experience, I have become an active member in various service groups including the Alternative Spring Break program and Civic Engagement Leaders. Most recently, I worked with fellow students to research the Rhode Island Food Bank and create alternative solutions for their community outreach. I believe it is important to advocate for progressive changes throughout our country and the world. I plan to take my knowledge, experience, and fervor to develop systematic strategies to tackle issues such as hunger.
