Ethan Sipser
Wayfinding AcademyEthan Sipser, a first-year student at Wayfinding Academy, has quickly found his place as a leader among his peers. He is passionate about the process and study of creating community and has dedicated some of his extracurricular time to pursuing a long-term project of creating student housing in an intentional community. Ethan has traveled with the college to Spain to walk the Camino de Santiago pilgrimage with a group of students and supporters and studied first hand how a community can be created quickly. He is also studying systems that support the sustained and long-term creation of authentic community. He is currently working with City Repair Project to create a permanent intersection painting outside our campus in partnership with the local elementary school, library, and a local artist.
Personal Statement
I really became excited about community living when I was a teenager. Living in a community that didn't feel like a community, my family moved around a bit. After a few years, I had lived in a few intentional communities and I recognized the type of good we could do if we could make it more accessible. That's why I co-created a team at my school that takes on community projects and is going to start building a vision of affordable communal housing at my school and see where we can take it.
