Angela Norris

Wesley Theological Seminary

Recognizing that the District of Columbia has one of the highest populations of homeless and chronically unhoused persons nationwide (per capita and per square mile), Angela is a first year Master of Divinity student and Community Engagement Fellow at Wesley Theological Seminary who is in the process of developing a contract employment agency specifically to serve the homeless community in downtown DC in order to provide contractual salaried short-term and long-term employment placement (full-time and part-time) for qualified persons within this population above the age of 15, while collaborating with other agencies, vocational training institutions and businesses who serve or are willing to serve members of this population.

Personal Statement

Growing up in Washington D.C., I have always had the passion to assist displaced and disenfranchised communities of the DC metropolitan area. Motivated by a vision into further this cause, I was led to Wesley Theological Seminary and the Community Engagement Fellows (CEF) Program, where I hope and endeavor to utilize the theological and community outreach training, guidance, knowledge and experience of the CEF Program as tools to empower me to accomplish the mission to which I has been led - to assist, advocate and serve unhoused persons. To that end, my project is to develop a contract employment agency specifically to serve the homeless community and to provide short-term and long-term contractual employment placement.
