Beth Allen

University of Wisconsin-Madison

Beth Allen is a third-year student pursuing Honors in Political Science and Social Work at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Beth has long been passionate about politics, but as she began working at the Morgridge Center for Public Service, she has come to realize how deeply her passion for voter engagement runs. She was one of the lead organizers for the Student Vote Organizers program, where she assisted in coordinating voter engagement efforts, especially within under-represented voter communities (STEM majors, BIPOC students, and graduate students) during the national election. Besides voter engagement efforts, Beth is seeking to make the campus a more inclusive place. She has served on the Executive Board for the Advocates for Diverse Abilities (ADA) since freshman year, and is currently serving as Vice President. She is involved with the Greek Life community. As a Panhellenic Association Justice, she is seeking to create more inclusive policies for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ members.

Personal Statement

I am a third-year student pursuing Honors in Political Science and Social Work with a Leadership Certificate. After watching plenty of news programs with my Grammy, I felt like going into politics was an obvious choice. I felt that Political Science alone didn't fulfill my passion for social justice, so I pursued Social Work as well. After working in the Office of Wisconsin Governor Tony Evers and at the UW-Madison Morgridge Center for Public Service, I realized how deeply my passion for voter engagement runs. I was one of the lead organizers for a program that oversaw 15 Student Vote Organizers (SVOs), and I assisted the SVOs in coordinating voter engagement efforts, especially within under-represented voter communities (STEM majors, BIPOC students, and graduate students). Besides voter engagement efforts, I am seeking to make the campus a more inclusive place. I have served on the Executive Board for the Advocates for Diverse Abilities (ADA) since freshman year, and I am currently the Vice President. I am involved with the Greek Life community; I am a Chi Omega. As an incoming Panhellenic Association Justice, I am seeking to create more inclusive bylaws and policies for BIPOC and LGBTQ+ sorority members.
