Personal Statement
A social change that I feel very strongly about is getting women involved in STEM fields. From early on, before I even started my high school career, I was participating in activities that drove me to passionately pursue a degree in a male-dominated field. I believe that the opportunities I had at a very formative time in my life truly shaped who I am today, which is why I am associated with organizations such as the Society of Women Engineers and the First Tech Challenge High School Robotics Competition. Volunteering with these organizations gives me the opportunity to give younger students, especially younger women, experiences that I had and that I am still very appreciative of. The actions I have taken to address this imbalance in fields I know women can perform well in are things I will continue to do after my collegiate career. Getting more women involved in technology and science will be a lifelong passion of mine, and is something that I will continue to push especially when I am established in my future career.
