Personal Statement

From an early age, I have obtained values that have attributed to my passion of becoming an Occupational Therapist. These values include service and compassion, which compel me to fulfill my calling of helping others. I have been blessed with the ability to attend graduate school to become an Occupational Therapist where I am honored and privileged to be the Vice President of the Stanbridge Student Occupational Therapy Association 2016-2017, Assembly Student Delegate 2017-2018, Senior Senator of Stanbridge Student Government, and part of the Pi Theta Epsilon Honor Society, and I would like to give back by enhancing the quality of living for others.
Currently, I drive past the Santa Ana River Trail on a near-daily basis. There is a homeless encampment in that area and it breaks my heart that so many homeless inhabitants will be kicked out. I would love to offer my values to these people and serve them with compassion. The Newman Civic Fellowship opportunity will be a tremendous asset in adopting the skills that are necessary to be an agent of change for my community. I look forward to committing to this experience for one year and serving my community for the rest of my life.
