Yu-Tuo (Peter) Liao

YuTuo "Peter" Liao, a second year PhD student at The Chicago School of Professional Psychology, partners with two community organizations addressing the issues of education inequities. For the past two years, he has collaborated with low income students from many neighborhoods across Chicago that have dealt with the effects of disproportionate resources and access to education. Peter’s strong initiatives of relationship building and data analytics has helped bridge connections, create access, and hope for many students and communities!
Personal Statement
I have been working with children in underprivileged communities to increase literacy, exposure to arts and humanities, competence in math and sciences, and well-being for more than eight years. I believe that children have great potential that should not be limited by their gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status, sexual orientation, or any other aspect of their lives. I am currently volunteering in the community and working with a program that provides children in underprivileged communities with resources to learn reading, writing, arts, and humanities. Through the community programs I have worked with, I have witnessed the impact of a guiding hand or a supportive voice. I will dedicate my education and skills to nurturing our future generations.
