Washington Adventist UniversityIn accordance with the fellowship's commitment to mentor students such that social change is experienced and lives are enriched through their competencies, Staie has a special passion for ensuring that from a young age, children of color learn and mature in skills of fiscal literacy. His dream is to establish a non-profit organization through which community centers can be created and thereby immediately accessible to youth such that money management is viewed as essential, relevant, empowering and even fun.
Personal Statement
I am a Junior at Washington Adventist University and am a student leader who addresses the need for fiscal literacy particularly for young people of color for whom English is a Second Language and for whom fiscally literacy concepts have not been modeled or taught. I take responsibility for refining personal fiscal insights through my Accounting major - through service as Treasurer for the Student Association and through my active participation in the John Maxwell Leadership Certificate - "15 Laws of Growth". Additionally I seek to enrich the lives and insights of fiscal literacy for members in the Haitian community so that through these insights, families are empowered to enhance their standard of living while corresponding generating resources to improve life after the earthquake devastation of Haiti.
