Personal Statement

Growing up, I was surrounded by service and giving back to others. William Paterson University helped shape me into the person I am today. My first year, I didn't intend to become involved; I wasn't open to trying to new things and meeting new people. By sophomore year, I was acquainted with many activities and clubs, and I attended nearly every community service activity provided by WP. I hold several leadership positions, excel academically, and exceeded my expectations with campus involvement. I am president of Students of Service, a member of Chi Alpha Epsilon National Honor Society and Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated. I am proud to be a young woman from Newark, NJ who wanted more, not only for herself, but for her community, who stepped out of her shell and blossomed. Leadership positions on campus enable me to express my true love for service. I encourage people to serve and have the drive and desire to help others. I will be the change that inspires others to connect with service and leadership on campus and in their community. Service starts with a small gesture and becomes the epitome of what we wish to see in the world.
