Katelyn Michalski

Ferris State University

On behalf of Ferris State University, it is our pleasure to nominate Katelyn Michalski. As a student in Pre- Science, Katelyn is a member of our Honors program and has the ambition to pursue an advanced degree in Health Sciences. She excels academically and has achieved over 75 hours of community service since Fall 2015.

As a student leader, she has taken over the leadership of the National Society of Collegiate Scholars' PACE program, which brings mentors to the local middle school to work with students on a weekly basis. Their goal is to inspire the younger generation to become aware of their opportunities for higher education and to excel academically. Beyond the hours she has recorded, she has created an opportunity for other students to contribute regularly to the community in a high impact way.

This is a difficult program to coordinate while collaborating with different school locations and contacts while relying on other university students for assistance. Katie has done an outstanding job.
