Stephon Green-Monroe embodies the spirit of the Newman Civic Fellowship Award and is an inspiration to all who meet him. He strives not only to improve his own life but also to serve as a role model to his fellow students. Stephon is kind, bright, and has the leadership qualities important to success as shown through his work in our college community. Stephon Green-Monroe represents positive social change by serving as an inspiration not only to other African-American male students at Florida State College at Jacksonville, but also to all students in general. He volunteers his own time in the Math Tutoring Lab readily sharing his own techniques for success: hard work, discipline, and organization. Through his interactions with fellow students, he motivates and encourages them to develop the study habits that will lead them to success. Additionally, he introduces students to new knowledge and opportunities, while guiding them along to help them make the best decisions for themselves and their futures. He truly displays leadership by example and uses his own experiences as evidence of the power of hard work. He will serve as an outstanding representative for FSCJ to the Newman Civic Fellows National Fellowship of Student Leaders.
