Personal Statement

Throughout my time at Florida Institute of Technology, I have been able to participate and be involved with many philanthropic and not-for-profit organizations both on and off campus. These include but are not limited to the Habitat for Humanity, American Cancer Society, Florida Breast Cancer Foundation, Breast Friends (local to Melbourne), United Way, Title IX at FIT, and Spoil Island Initiative in the Indian River Lagoon. Campus events include such as those organized by Campus Activity Board, the President's Picnic and Orientation, Adopt a Highway, multiple food drives and service runs, and many more, either by raising money through events or volunteering my time. I have always enjoyed being able to help people and give back to campus and community and through my fraternity experience, I was given the opportunity to do just that by being elected into the social service head for my chapter. This position allowed me to organize many service events and trips, the most notable of which was a philanthropic softball tournament that I planned and organized with the help of my brothers, which raised $2500+ for the Florida Breast Cancer Foundation. My service efforts have given me recognition on campus through receiving a gold (500+ hours) community service award and a silver (250-499 hours) campus service award and within Greek Life Community, Greek Volunteer of the Year Award. To conclude I feel very honored to be recognized by and nominated for the prestigious Newman Award.
