Personal Statement

I became involved with community service when I was in the 9th grade through membership in the National Beta Club, National Honors Society, Medical Society, French Club, Stocks and Bonds Club, Leo Club and the African American Awareness Club. My memberships exposed me to the benefits and joy of helping others through volunteering. One of the many reasons I selected Charleston Southern University's Kinesiology Program was because of the strong emphasis on serving the community. I wanted to build upon my desire to serve the community while enrolled in college. I served 310 volunteer hours, and continue my involvement in sustainable educational programs that support youth and adults within our community. I currently volunteer for organizations such as the South Carolina Lions Club, The Bowl for Kids Charities, Color Run Event at Charleston Southern University, the Salvation Army, and South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind. I currently volunteer as a Mentor for the Big Brother and Big Sister, volunteer as a Youth Counselor at the Woodruff Summer Program, and I'm an Assistant Sunday School Teacher at my local church in an effort to support the youth of today.
