Austin Pfiffner serves as an AmeriCorps member with Campus Compact K2H Civic Futures at Mikva Challenge in Chicago, Illinois.
Tell us a bit about your project!
Mikva Challenge’s goal is to give young kids from diverse backgrounds a political voice. What I do is deal with data evaluations and other data that is worked with the company. I gather the data and analyze it to see what we can improve in the long run. I also get to see input on how a non-for-profit is run and how much of an impact we have on the youth
What have you learned from your AmeriCorps K2H service?
I have learned a little bit about myself and who I want to be in the future. I have also learned that I do want to be a data analyst in the future. Also, I learned that my team and all AmeriCorps members are great people and have great stories to learn from.
What is your proudest achievement from your time with AmeriCorps?
The proudest achievement from my time with AmeriCorps has been analyzing data to create a data table that shows data from the summer/fall to be able to use it for the end of the year report. For the first time at Mikva, I helped create a composite score to be able to show donors, staff, and teachers all the great work we do. This is really cool, and I am continuing to use the formulas for future work.
