Personal Statement

My name is William Lessane and currently I serve as the Assistant Manager at the Baltimore County Westside Men’s Shelter. The Community Assistance Network that governs the 154-bed capacity shelter is a non-profit organization that operates in Baltimore County serving consumers needing comprehensive re-entry assistance, mental health diagnosis, services for the homeless, access to earned benefits and provides addiction and rehabilitation support services to people who are disenchanted and disadvantaged. My leading charge is to make sure every person I serve has safe, clean, stable, affordable and sustainable housing upon exiting the shelter after 90 days in Baltimore and beyond.

I have worked in the Social Work and Human Services field for the last 10 years. I am passionate and enthusiastic about making sure every Baltimore City/County resident, community/neighborhood has unimpeded access to all resources and information that will transform their lives to become more self-sufficient. I take pride in my work and treat everyone with the upmost dignity and I approach my personal and professional environments as a family. Morgan has equipped me with the fundamental knowledge of social work concepts and theories, in addition to possessing the ability to analyze, evaluate, and apply my practical expertise.
