Aimee Oulellet
Mount Wachusett Community College
Aimee Ouellet, an Early Childhood Education student at Mount Wachusett Community College is a student leader active in addressing issues of welcoming and inclusion, food insecurity and advocating for less advantages students. She holds numerous leadership and volunteer positions at the college and within the greater community and focuses much of her energy on working with students with disabilities and students who might otherwise be marginalized. Aimee has learned ASL to be able to better communicate with our deaf students and has spent countless hours mentoring and advocating for students who are food insecure, housing insecure or otherwise challenged.
Personal Statement
There are many reasons why I want to become an Elementary School teacher, I love working with children and I would like to help children learn and grow as children and become better people in the future. Being a teacher is a way to give back to the community. Giving back to the community is good because you want to help others that may have helped you. Also I feel like that when I become a teacher and the children see me giving back to the community, it will show them that they can give back as well. Finally, being involved in the community helps you meet new people as you build solid relationships and friendships. Mount Wachusett Community College is my community and I love creating a feeling of community for others.
