Laura Stevens, Bluefield State College

Laura Stevens, a junior at Bluefield State College, is involved across campus in many capacities. She currently serves as the Secretary for the Student Government Association where she supports student issues and ideals. She serves in her intended professional group of pre-medicine as president of the Bio Med Club. Laura serves on the CHOICES Committee (alcohol awareness and prevention grant) where she has led committees with sharing information with other students and involving additional student organizations on campus.She was voted by her peers as Miss BSC to represent the College for the upcoming year. To assist her with her goal of assisting the under served population in rural Appalachia with dental care, she continues to serve as a volunteer (6 yrs.) with the Mission of Mercy Project. Laura shows strong leadership skills, professionalism and drive with her community service based services. Her potential for continuing to provide rural Appalachian with much needed dental care for the under served is unlimited.

I have worked for 6 years as a volunteer dental assistant with the Mission of Mercy Project to aid my states population that cannot afford dentistry services in Appalachia. My mission if to continue to provide assistance in yet a larger capacity as a dentist to the under served population in rural Appalachia with dental care. This has been my goal and I wish to continue with this effort.
