Ashley Rennie, Great Bay Community College

Ashley is in the PTK Honor Society, she serves as the President of the Student Government Association, and she is one of two students who are members of the CCSNH Board of Trustees. In each of those roles, Ashley has worked tirelessly on civic engagement initiatives. Two years ago, she helped to organize a trip to Guatemala with Partners in Development. She assisted with the SGA initiative to provide Thanksgiving baskets to those in need last year as well. In this academic year, she has led the student effort to get the Institute for Civic Engagement (ICE) started. Once it is fully running, the ICE will provide volunteer opportunities for all students at Great Bay. She has established featured civic partnerships with Habitat for Humanity and Big Brothers / Big Sisters. Ashley has also worked with United Way to create additional volunteer opportunities for students. In collaboration with our Science Department and the Hodgson Brooks Project, Ashley has been involved in the initiative to create a rooftop vegetable garden. The vegetables grown in the garden are to be donated to a local food bank. Ashley was part of the Leadership NH’s first Leadership College class and she attended NEW Leadership™ New England. Ashley has also earned the Great Bay Community College Student Leadership Institutes Individual Leader Certificate and the Group Leader Certificate.
