Personal Statement

Growing as a girl in Afghanistan, I know how challenging and difficult for girls to go to school. I faced all the challenges to go to school, to get an education, to teach others and to make positive impacts in my community. I have been involved to teach the illiterate women how to read and write, to raise awareness about women's right, to encourage girls to play sports, and to raise awareness on environmental issues. On campus, I have been involved in the student government as a sophomore representative. Being part of the student senate has been very important to me because the decisions we make will impact all students on campus. I am also involved with the Intercultural Club, which we host different cultural and language workshops to bring mutual understanding among people of different faiths, cultures, and languages.
