Katelyn Gamble
Rogers State UniversityKatelyn's commitment to community service and social change began before her arrival at RSU. In the name of helping the less fortunate, she volunteered at a regional food bank, and served in a community outreach program that provided free school supplies, wellness checks, haircuts, and physicals. Through her high school, she volunteered for fundraisers to support local non-profits.
A root cause of many societal difficulties is lack of educational achievement, and Katelyn strives to help her peers be more successful. Since arriving at RSU, Katelyn has volunteered as a tutor for fellow student-athletes and through the Math & Science tutoring lab.
In addition to fostering educational attainment among her peers, Katelyn has invested in the lives and well-being of children and youth. She has volunteered at Rogers County Youth Services which provides care and shelter for kids who have been taken out of their homes due to abuse or neglect. Katelyn has helped lead free softball clinics to help develop the skills and self-confidence of aspiring girls. She has shared with children at Claremont Elementary School about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and his legacy, and has also volunteered for a campus art education event entitled Art on the Hill.
Personal Statement
I've always had a passion for helping others in and outside of my community. That same passion followed me to college in the form of tutoring. I believe that education is the backbone and the key to success in our society, therefore I value a great education. To help improve the education of my peers, I became a volunteer tutor for the athletic department. Being a student athlete myself, I know how challenging it is to maintain successful grades during the season. My goal as a tutor is to help improve the educational success of my peers while also encouraging them to think positively about education and their academic careers. I have been able to use the skills that I've acquired from high school and my first semester in college to help improve the academic experience of my peers. I have served as a tutor in the Math & Tutoring Center and currently in the Athletic Department at RSU. I hope to continue to assist students in their journey towards success academically and in their careers while also using the leadership and communication skills that I have gained for the rest of my time in college and throughout my career.
