Hadeel Mishal
Wagner College
Hadeel Mishal , is a third year History Major at Wagner College, and an advocate for social justice issues pertaining to democratic liberties, immigration rights and middle eastern relations. Over the past three years she has demonstrated active and engaged citizenry through her involvement in countless community based programs-- most notably, The Wagner College Bonner Leaders Program, Generation Citizen and The Port Richmond Partnership Leadership Academy. Through these positions, Hadeel has developed into Wagner College's most vocal and impassioned leader. She is exceptionally graceful in her efforts to make change, empowering Wagner College students and local youth through her work. Hadeel seeks to leverage her experiences at Wagner College to pursue a career in law-- focusing on immigration and human rights violations in Palestine.
Personal Statement
My unrelenting passion, and constant need to take action found a home at Wagner College through the Center for Leadership and Community Engagement. Access to education has always been on my heart and mind, so I started tutoring elementary school students in the hopes that the extra help would stop them from falling behind in school at a young age. I also began working with Eyeopeners, an anti-violence youth group and built out workshops for them to participate in and develop from. Furthermore, I became a Democracy Coach for Generation Citizen, and taught an action civics course to a class of high school and middle school students. Most recently, I am a Lead Mentor for the Port Richmond Partnership Leadership Academy, a college readiness program for Port Richmond High School students. This program has enabled me to mentor incredible students, and work with brilliant minds who see the value of being assets to their community. My civic work has been an absolute privilege, because I have been able to connect to a wide array of people, to learn invaluable amounts of information, and have witnessed the vibrant effects of local, grassroots advocacy to a community that strives for the best.
