Personal Statement
As a kid, I became involved in addressing issues of economic and social inequality by volunteering at the Bea Gaddy Foundation in Baltimore City. As I got older—I was given the opportunity to study law and other related topics in Middle and High School. While enrolled in those programs, I was exposed to different issues in society. As a result of learning so much about how laws and systems operated, a deep passion for helping others and being an advocate for social change grew within me. At the University of Baltimore, I work in the UB Campus Pantry to fight hunger on our campus. I am also a Chairperson in Student Government Association, where I am an active voice for the students when in communication with UB’s Administration. I am currently a volunteer at the Baltimore Community Mediation Center and a member of a non-profit organization called the Movement Team. I will become an attorney to be a vessel for those in need of legal help and guidance, and I will use my skills to spread knowledge to people in my community. I believe that with the proper education and passionate people the world will become a better place.
