Personal Statement
I am a nontraditional student at Flathead Valley Community College (FVCC), a veteran, and a loving husband and father. In today's turmoil and political uncertainty, I believe veterans must not be forgotten. After experiencing the personal struggles many veterans undergo, I am passionate about developing a therapy program designed for veterans and their families to reduce suicide rates, family conflict and divorce, and to help veterans reintegrate into civilian life. For the past two years, I have worked with multiple veteran organizations and legislative leaders to promote and support better healthcare, education, and resources for veterans and their families. I serve on the board of directors for the nonprofit organization Underwater Soldiers, a scuba diving therapy program for veterans, and I am the President of the Veterans' Association at FVCC. In addition to my advocacy for veterans and their families, I serve as a mentor to underprivileged and struggling youth who benefit from having a positive male role model in their lives.
