Greta Hacker

Greta Hacker, a third year student at the University of Central Arkansas in the Schedler Honors College, has demonstrated her commitment to pursuing a career in public service both in and out of the classroom. A public administration major and former intern with the City of Conway and UCA's Center for Community and Economic Development, she currently holds leadership roles in the university's nonpartisan Vote Everywhere program, Food Recovery Network, and the university debate team. Greta is not only dedicated to developing herself as a civic leader, but she also creates opportunities for others to raise their awareness and engagement through programs such as campus poverty simulations, debate training, and voter registration.

Personal Statement

One of my defining traits is empathy for others, and this characteristic drives my passion for public service. My motivation to serve others has translated into direct action through its consistent influence on how I spend my time; I have participated in service through the youth organization 4-H and through working at my local public library since I was a teenager. As an undergraduate student, I have held numerous service and leadership roles, including in our campus Vote Everywhere program, Food Recovery Network, the UCA Debate Team, and the UCA Honors Council. I have participated in public service internships at the UCA Center for Community and Economic Development and the City of Conway. After I graduate college with a degree in public administration, I intend to become a career civil servant in Arkansas state or local government.
