Our ebook outlines the benefits and step-by-step strategies for implementing globally focused projects in your classroom. This model can also be used in your local community. This interdisciplinary model encourages inquiry and solutions-based learning among students. The goal of the program is to make students aware of our global interconnectedness and to foster respect of difference among cultures. The workbook offers educators (from elementary to higher education):

• tools to map out projects
• activities to jump start into projects, and
• sample lessons

Preparing the ebook and accompanying workbook has been a collaborative effort among many supporters. We are very grateful to all of those who have made this free resource available. After holding a Think Tank in the Spring of 2016 the materials were piloted over the 2016-2017 school year. The experiences have been both inspirational and transformative for teachers and students alike. As a result of these class projects, students and teachers have begun to foster deeper connections to their local community. It is this type of thoughtful classroom engagement that will prepare youth of today to be leaders for a world, not as it is, but as it should be. Our work is needed now more than ever and we hope that you will share these resources with the educators in your life!

Nobis Project is a non-profit educational support organization based in Savannah, GA. We collaborate with and support educators and community leaders across the United States in providing young people with an education that prepares them to become informed, compassionate, active, responsible and ethical global citizens, both at home and abroad. Nobis Project focuses on developing educators’ capacity to foster reciprocal and meaningful community partnerships, build culturally responsive classrooms, and promote a social justice approach to service-learning.

Christen Higgins Clougherty, PhD has over eighteen years of experience as an educator and administrator in community organizations, K-12 public, charter and independent schools, and colleges/universities. Christen received her Ph.D. in Quaker Studies from the University of Birmingham in the United Kingdom. She completed her doctoral research on the synthesis of experiential education, service-learning, creative-process theory, and global citizenship education. Her honors include recognition as a National Emerging Scholar for K-12 Service-Learning Research (2008 and 2009) by the National Service-Learning Partnership at the Academy for Educational Development. Christen teaches Humanities at Savannah State University in Savannah, Georgia and is also a founding board member of two charter schools, Tybee Island Maritime Academy and the Susie King Taylor Community School.
