Alexis Rice, New England College

Alexis Rice, a senior Education major, has spent her entire four years at New England College aspiring to see the world through the lens of service to others. As an education major, she has sought out opportunities to take her education to the international level, volunteering in a child center in Nicaragua for several alternative spring break trips. Through an organization called Orphanage Outreach, Lexi was able to spend weeks at a time offering educational opportunities to young children. For one of the many trips, Lexi took a lead role in fundraising, collecting items for donation, and organizing the students each night to develop lesson plans for the following day. What has become obvious over her four years at New England College is the fact that Lexi belongs in classroom working with children. She actively participates in the learning community, worked as a peer leader for the First Year program, maintains a brilliant grade point average, and works tirelessly at making New England College a place that takes students outside the classroom for their education.
