Rachel Wong, Southwestern College
Rachel Wong has been involved in two significant leadership roles on campus: as a Resident Assistant and as a member of the Service Learning program, Discipleship Southwestern. She has also been a double major in Psychology and Math. Rachel’s academic interests led her to a research project in Taiwan last summer in the area of neuroscience. Her first discovery was that she was more likely interested in working with people themselves rather than just the numbers that tell something about them. And yet her exposure to this research opportunity has opened her up to identifying the known for solving the problems of the unknown. Because of her strong sphere of influence and broad perspective, Rachel is able to see various ways to make progress on what others see as problems. Her leadership has produced creative solutions to hunger-related issues and reaching out and caring for “invisible” populations on campus.
