Mattie Walton, Montana State University Billings

Mattie Walton is a Billings native and currently working on a Master’s of Curriculum and Instruction at Montana State University Billings. Nearing the end of her degree, Mattie is an AmeriCorps Compact Service Corps member and is student teaching at Boulder Elementary with a kindergarten class. In addition to her schoolwork, Mattie works with the Audubon Conservation Education Center (ACEC) to take students and community members outdoors to explore and become connected to their local natural and urban community through place-based education. She has had a long-time connection to the ACEC, and in 2011-2012 completed a 10-month term of service as a Big Sky Watershed Corps member; this experienced sparked her love of teaching. Mattie hopes to remain in Billings, MT upon the completion of her degree; her natural enthusiasm, excitement, and commitment positively impacts the students, faculty, and staff she works with!
