Gibsy Lino, Stella and Charles Guttman Community College CUNY
Gibsy Lino has consistently dedicated her time and talents to serving those in need throughout New York City. During the aftermath of Hurricane Sandy in 2013, for example, she helped to rebuild houses in Far Rockaway, Queens. She also coaches senior high schools students at the Manhattan International High School to help them enroll successfully in college and volunteers with cerebral palsy patients. At Guttman Community College, Ms. Lino serves as an Academic Success Peer Mentor to support fellow students on academic matters and is an executive member of the Trending News Update Club that engages students in discussions about current issues. Additionally, she is a member of the CUNY Malave Leadership Academy in New York City. At the college’s 2013 Convocation, Ms. Lino was included on the Honors List 2012-2013 for high academic achievement and received the Leadership and Service Award. Gibsy Lino also received the prestigious Student Leadership Award from the Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Frank D. Sanchez for outstanding leadership through academic and service-related activities during the 2012-2013 academic year. As a Human Services major, Gibsy Lino aspires to further her studies to become a Licensed Clinical Social Worker in order to continue serving her community.
