Garrison Kingston, SUNY Oswego

With a strong passion for education and dedication to social justice, Garrison Kingston has taken initiative to improve the mentoring programs offered through SUNY Oswego. Kingston, a junior, has been a participant in the Mentor-Scholar program for two years. He immediately distinguished himself as the mentor with the most passion, enthusiasm, and excitement for working with urban youth. Now as a team leader for the Mentor-Scholar Program, Garrison assists team members by modeling developmentally appropriate practice. His new role has enabled Garrison to put into practice the skill he naturally possesses for positively motivating and influencing those around him. His cooperative spirit, his compassion for the well-being of all, and his flexible leadership style make Garrison an outstanding activist destined for significant achievements.
