Cynthia Curtis, Greenfield Community College
Cynthia Curtis has always led by the power of example. Since enrolling in courses at Greenfield Community College, she has been a source of inspiration to students, faculty and staff. Her involvement at Greenfield Community College and the surrounding community has taken many different paths. Cindi’s service is far reaching, including volunteering for Franklin County Hospice, fundraising for Relay for Life for the past twelve years and hosting eight international students from Japan. In addition to her overall community involvement, Cindi is a member of Student Senate and the VetNet club on campus. It is through these organizations that Cindi shows her ability to motivate and inspire others to actualize their goals. In May of 2013, a Veteran’s Affairs committee from Massachusetts College of Liberal Arts met with administrators at Greenfield Community College. Through that interaction, they met Cindi, a 24-year veteran. As a gesture of solidarity, Cindi presented the group with a military flag she had kept for years. This gesture served as the start of a collaboration to build the Veteran community and a Veteran’s Center at MCLA. After her military service, Cindi moved to Greenfield and became a Direct Care Counselor for ServiceNet. She is currently a PCA and enrolled in courses at Greenfield Community College to earn an Associate’s Degree in Nursing leading to an RN.
