Clara Schopf, Hofstra University
As an Intern and now Fellow with the Center for Civic Engagement, Clara Schopf has worked closely with the National Day Laborer Organizing Network in organizing immigrant workers. In the process, Clara has competently crossed prominent social boundaries on Long Island-symbolic, relational, and physical; racial, gender, and class-to support a highly vulnerable and marginalized sub-population. Her abundant strengths include a laser-like attention to detail, task orientation, efficiency, an ability to effectively recruit other students while serving as a bridge to the broader community, and impressive applied social research and public policy analysis skills. The rich personal and social insights that she has gained and shared through her engagement to date suggest boundless growth potential with similar opportunities in the future.
