Chase Blasi, Newman University
Chase is a Sophomore business major at Newman University and a recipient of the ASC Community Leader Scholarship instituted by our sponsoring religious order, the Adorers of the Blood of Christ. Chase has a passion for helping people thrive. He has worked with the Special Olympics organization in Wichita since 2008. He volunteers regularly at the Lord’s Diner, an interfaith ministry that provides meals to poor families. And, since 2012, he has been a Big Brother in the Big Brother/Big Sister organization. As a member of the Northwest Wichita YMCA Board of Directors, Chase oversees the “Strong Kids” program for the area-a program that guarantees provides children from low-income families with opportunities for free swimming lessons and registration for activities such as football, gymnastics, and basketball. At Newman, he is an officer in the Student Government Association and a student minister in our Campus Ministry Office. In 2011, Chase was elected to the city council of his hometown of Colwich, Kansas, at the age of 17. One year later, he was chosen to be the president of the council and has served in this capacity ever since.
