Brandon Harris, Indiana State University
Brandon Harris, originally from Las Vegas, NV, arrived at Indiana State University with the intention to give back to his new community. Making Terre Haute his new home was evident by his immediate interest in getting involved with outreach opportunities in the Wabash Valley. Brandon began his initiative of service to the Wabash Valley with his acceptance into AmeriCorps Sycamore Service Corps (SSC) program in February 2011. As an AmeriCorps member, he has completed a variety of service programs including coordinating a school supplies drive, planning a fundraiser for senior citizens that earned $300, and helped raise funds for puppies at the Terre Haute Humane Society. The AmeriCorps SSC program has assisted his professional development and leadership skills which catapulted him into the LeaderCorps program through Indiana AmeriCorps. The additional development and reflective opportunities through LeaderCorps provided Brandon with leadership skills his peers recognized. In addition, Brandon is currently Chapter President of the Delta Tau Chapter of the International Fraternity of Delta Sigma Pi, Program Assistant at Big Brothers & Big Sisters, and a founding executive board member of Sigma Alpha Pi – National Society of Leadership and Success for the Indiana State University chapter.
