Ashley Tocci, Worcester State University
Two examples will outline Ashley’s leadership ability. Her work in the Jimmy Fund Council at WSU is an excellent example of her leadership abilities. In the council, the focus is in part on fundraising, and Ashley has played a lead role in Late Night Pizza Fundraisers, in Run for a Scholar (a 5K on Family Weekend), and in raffles and donation solicitation. In addition, Ashley has participated for two consecutive years as a runners’ guide at the Boston Marathon, assisting medical staff from Dana Farber Cancer Institute in ensuring the safety and well-being of the many runners who marathon for a cause. As such, it’s worth noting that Ashley was at the marathon finish line in 2013, when a bomb destroyed the celebration. During those frantic hours, Ashley played a key role in ensuring the safety and calm of her peers. Finally, Ashley has played a lead role on two service learning trips abroad, and is currently active in putting together a group to travel oversees to do service in 2015.
