Roderick Bennett, Brevard Community College
Roderick Bennett, a sophomore at Brevard Community College, epitomizes passionate student leadership and collaborative activism. Serving as SGA President for the Cocoa campus for two consecutive terms, he has successfully built an engaged student body and resolved multiple student isssues. Beyond his traditional duties, he has hosted several workshops and coordinated numerous service projects for the BCC student population. He also serves as the District Coordinator of District II for the Florida College System Student Government Association. Through this organization, he is responsible for the leadership development, community service, and student advocacy for all the students in the 8 colleges represented in District II. He’s also part of the State Executive Board which organizes and executes four leadership conferences for all 28 colleges in the state college system. Service has been an integral part of all three volunteer positions, including projects with the Ronald McDonald House, Big Brothers & Big Sisters, the United Way, letter writing to soldiers, Valentines for the elderly, breast cancer walks, and Meals on Wheels. He has personally visited 6 of the colleges in District II to assist with events, conduct leadership training, and participate in community service projects on their campuses. His ability to mentor, inspire, and organize others toward collaborative change is truly exemplary.
