Elizabeth Lynch, Ivy Tech Community College-Columbus/Franklin
Elizabeth Lynch, a second year student at Ivy Tech Community College, Columbus/Franklin, is active in helping those who can’t help themselves. During the last year, she has been researching, along with a team, how a low-socioeconomic background affects those students and their persistence rates through graduation. After meeting with college officials, she is now creating a business to plan to launch a student mentoring program this Fall 2013. Elizabeth has an amazing ability to unite a wide variety of people, from administrators to faculty to fellow students, to believe in this cause. Already, a number of key people have pledged their time and energy in support of the mentorship program. She truly believes that when we help one person, we are also helping ourselves.
