Chelsea Desrochers, Plymouth State University
For Chelsea, joining a service based student organization early on at Plymouth State University was the catalyst for a career path centered on giving back and engaging others in change. Chelsea is the current President of the Habitat for Humanity Campus Chapter, a Coordinator for Alternative Spring Break and is the Vice President of the Student Support Foundation. The Student Support Foundation (SSF) provides emergency financial assistance for students and the SSF also operates an on-campus food pantry for students. Chelsea has also traveled abroad to volunteer in the Dominican. The initial volunteer experience in the Dominican led Chelsea to return multiple times to continue the work started there. Watching Chelsea work with younger students at PSU is amazing. She shares her insights and experiences with them to help them develop their skills. She is organized and willing to pass on the materials she has acquired over the years which are beneficial to others continuing the work of Alternative Spring Break, Habitat and the SSF. Chelsea will continue her studies in the fall at Boston University. She was recently accepted to the Boston University School of Public Health.
