Ricardo Alvarado, Collin County Community College District, TX
Ricardo Alvarado is a passionate researcher and activist in social issues. As President of the Student Government Association and a key figure in Phi Theta Kappa, he leads students in addressing key issues at our college and in our community. He endorses civic engagement and promotes volunteer service among student organizations, departments, and community agencies such as the City of Plano, Hope’s Door, and MLK Day. Most recently, Ricardo has united Region II of the Texas Junior College Student Government Association in opposition of Texas HB 1167, which would allow people with Texas concealed handgun licenses to carry handguns on public junior college campuses. These efforts are currently expanding from the local to the state level.
