Dylan Tally
The George Washington University
Dylan Tally is a member of George Washington University's School of Business Class of 2019, majoring in Business Economics and Public Policy. Since arriving at GW, he has become an active student leader, inspiring others on and off campus. Dylan was a leader as a freshman in Civic House, an academic residential program focused on service and community engagement and he spearheaded a student initiative in which second year Civic House students mentored first year students in the program. Dylan founded and is Executive Director of the Community Engagement Consulting program, in which business students use their newly developed skills to provide ongoing support to the operations of local nonprofit organizations and businesses. He is also Director of Community Engagement for the Alpha Kappa Psi business fraternity and a teaching assistant for a first year business course. In addition, Dylan has found time to intern in Senator Richard Burr's office and to volunteer regularly with Miriam's Kitchen, an organization that works to end homelessness and provide support for those who are experiencing homelessness.
Personal Statement
My name is Dylan Tally and I am a passionate student leader studying Business Economics and Public Policy at George Washington University (GW). With my academic studies, student organization activities, and internship experiences, I have worked diligently to make sure that my skills are well-rounded in various disciplines to holistically improve my abilities as a critical and creative thinker. I have interned with a law firm, handling legal precedent briefs and conducting operations management consulting company-wide. Additionally, this past semester I interned with US Senator Richard Burr and am currently working as a teaching assistant for an undergraduate business development class to mentor freshmen with their transition into GW School of Business. Outside of the classroom I have traveled to South Korea to study business culture and the effects of rapid industrialization on society and work with many community organizations around DC, placing my focus on community service related to chronic homelessness. I have a passion for social entrepreneurship and helping communities leverage all their available resources in the most productive and effective ways to fight social inequities. After graduation I am planning to work as a public sector consultant to continue the success I have found at GW for melding my passions for business and community impact for the greater good.
