Single Motherhood in the Contemporary U.S.: Myths and Realities

Course Objectives: To expose you to scholarship and ?real-life? experiences that when synthesized, will enhance your ability to identify and evaluate ideologies, institutions, and public policies that affect single women?s experiences of motherhood. To enhance your theoretical understanding of such phenomena as the myth of meritocracy, unearned privilege, and systemic and internalized oppression by allowing you to identify, work within, and assess concrete instances of institutionalized injustice.
