The 2019 Pen to Paper Writing Retreat will take place Tuesday, July 16 – Thursday, July 18, 2019 at Waycross Camp & Conference Center in Morgantown, Indiana. The Retreat facilities are set in a rural semi-wooded area, offering participants the opportunity to unplug from the demands of the everyday and focus in on their engaged scholarship pursuits. Attendance is for this intensive Retreat is limited in order to foster personal connections between participants, journal editors, and Retreat facilitators, as well as to provide the ‘space’ for attendees to focus on their writing. Campus, Community, & Student Connections: From the Inside Out The OCC Annual Meeting offers participants the opportunity to: 1. Network with others working to advance community and civic engagement; 2. Receive resources on best practices in community partnerships, faculty development, and student learning related to community and civic engagement; and 3. Share updates on critical state, regional, and national initiatives in higher education.
As colleges and universities deepen their commitment to developing their students as full participants in their communities and our democracy, they need to capture student civic learning outcomes. This information can help institutions improve their curricular and co-curricular programs while answering questions posed by accreditors, public higher education authorities, and the Carnegie Classification for Community Engagement. To meet this growing need, Campus Compact has partnered with Liaison International to build Compact2Learn, an online tool that enables campuses to capture student civic and community participation and learning. Liaison brings to the partnership thirty years of developing and supporting technologies to serve higher education, while Campus Compact brings broad experience in facilitating and assessing community-based learning. Through Compact2Learn, colleges and universities can capture information in forms that are useful to students, to the institution, and to the broader effort to advance the public purposes of higher education. Join us for an informal webinar and demo of this new platform. Can't make it...
The summit will convene students, faculty, and staff who lead non-partisan, campus-wide voter engagement efforts. Participants will create and share innovative strategies as well as learn practical information to support college voter registration, voter education, and electoral participation. We have partnered with state and national wide organizations, such as the Campus Election Engagement Project, You Can Vote, and Blueprint, to new a few, to share and create strategies for engaging college students. The event will feature speakers in the field of voting rights and democracy.
