Kimberly Layman, Tennessee Wesleyan College

Kimberly Layman, a junior Criminal Justice major at Tennessee Wesleyan College, is a natural servant leader and model of service to our community. She takes advantage of opportunities in which she can refine her leadership skills and positively impact others, and she challenges her fellow students and community members to do the same. Inspired by a passion to help others achieve a healthy lifestyle in a community where childhood obesity is a major concern, Kimberly has volunteered with Athens City Middle School’s cheerleading team and with the local YMCA. Additionally, as captain of the TWC cheerleading team, she’s helped coordinate and implement an annual children’s cheer camp for the McMinn County community. Her concern for healthy children extends beyond her local community. She has spent the past two summers leading mission trips to Haiti through her church, First Baptist of Madisonville, and recently started a fundraising campaign called “Hope for Haiti” to build schools on the impoverished island. Kimberly is an outstanding young woman who is an excellent example for her peers, and her enthusiasm for serving others is contagious.
