Maria Garcia Quesada, Tulane University
Maria Garcia Quesada is a junior double majoring in public health and neuroscience with a minor in mathematics at Tulane University in New Orleans, Louisiana. She is passionate about fighting abuse and discrimination against women and immigrants on an international level. She serves as the committee chair for the Global Service League (GSL), president of the Capoeira club, and a Vagina Monologues warrior on campus. Through GSL, she educates her peers about Human Trafficking and other issues related to human rights. She is also working with Oportunidades NOLA, an adult education program for the Latino community of New Orleans, to develop a free comprehensive health and wellness program in Spanish for women. She has been passionate about public health since taking a gap year to travel and volunteer in Mexico and Nepal prior to her enrollment at Tulane and she will continue supporting underserved communities long after the graduates.
