Kayla Franchina, Alfred State College
Kayla Franchina, a third year Human Services Management student at Alfred State, is a student leader passionate about helping economically disadvantaged high school students obtain a prom dress. She started an Operation Prom Dress initiative in high school seeking donations and holding a prom dress party to donate dresses. She scaled up this event during her college career holding a first of its kind regional Operation Prom Dress event. She has now taken on a mentor role supporting other students inspired by her vision. The effort has grown with multiple events throughout the year. Kayla has been active as a Civic Engagement Coordinator demonstrating leadership in a number of initiatives. Her passion and energy to help other students and build community connections has been an inspiration to others.
