Holly Johnson, University of Great Falls

Holly Johnson has been a campus leader at the University of Great Falls since arriving on campus. She is a natural leader. Holly works hard and inspires others to do the same. She is president of the Student Montana Education Association, and Secretary of the Disability Awareness Club at UGF. She reads at Longfellow School, volunteers at the Juvenile Detention Center, Great Falls Food Bank, and Special Olympics. She also participated in the UGF Mission Trip to Mexico and helped to build a house while on that trip.

My name is Holly Ann Johnson. I live in Great Falls, Montana and grew up with 18 brothers and sisters. I am currently a senior at the University of Great Falls. My career aspiration is to become an elementary school teacher and a special education teacher. I have chosen to become a teacher because I love knowledge. I love to learn and it gives me great joy to share this passion with others. I know I can make a difference in a child’s life. I want to be a positive influence in their life in both the classroom and in the real world. I have always loved working with children. I have been around children my whole life. Nothing in this world brings me more joy than seeing a child’s face light up when they have learned or discovered something new. When I was younger I dreamed of becoming a teacher. I love working with children that have disabilities. I believe that they can learn anything they want to; they may just have to go about it in a different way. Most importantly I want to teach others, that a child’s disability doesn’t define who they are, their disability is just one part of them. I want to teach others to be open about children with disabilities. I don’t want them to focus on the child’s disability, rather the ability of what that child can do and achieve.
