Aubrey Snedeker, Missouri State University

Aubrey SnedekerAubrey Snedeker, a third year student at Missouri State University, has taken service-learning to the next level by volunteering her time and energy to educate communities about healthy living. Through her service, Aubrey has provided a framework for further conversations on how the community can work to become more healthy and sustainable. She exemplifies our Public Affairs Mission here at Missouri State University, as well as Frank Newman’s mission to educate others to become active citizens.
-Clifton Smart, President

While I was growing up, my mother stressed the importance of serving her community, so my passion for serving in my home community and communities all over the world seemed quite natural. After coming to MSU, I learned about what it meant to be an active citizen. I have immersed myself into a variety of different social issues varying from public affairs, food insecurity, and many more. Over the last few years I have served as Bear Breaks president training trip leaders on reflection, social issues, and how to implement impactful service trips. I also have served as the Community Outreach Coordinator for the Student Dietetic Association. I set up all the volunteer opportunities for SDA having at least three service days a month for members to participate in. I also implemented a 24/7 week-long event for raising awareness about food insecurity and a healthy lifestyle while raising donations for a local food pantry. I strive to make a positive impact and will continue to use what I have learned through my experiences at Missouri State to further my involvement in and out of the classroom.
