Tabitha Sanchez, California State University, Northridge

Tabitha Sanchez, a second year student at California State University, Northridge (CSUN) is a student leader active in assisting families in poverty and mentoring act-risk youth. For the past two years she worked closely with Unified We Serve the Volunteer Program at CSUN, which she provided Thanksgiving food packages for underserved families, helped orchestrate a campus-wide food and clothing drive, raised donations for cancer survivors, and delivered holiday cards to senior-citizens at a local convalescent home. She has created an educational program for at-risk youth in the inner-city at the Boys and Girls Club that taught the importance of unity and teamwork through creative arts, which was honored at the national level and implemented into the National Boys & Girls Club Keystone Conference. Additionally, Tabitha was one of six interns selected across the nation to raise the awareness of current high school dropout rates, while encouraging high school students to graduate with a plan for higher education under the Taco Bell “G2Go” program. Her ability to improve the quality of life for underserved families and inspiring at-risk youth to strive for their dreams is exceptional.
