Alicia Dicken, Hocking College, Ohio

Alicia Dicken, a second year student at Hocking College, is a true servant-leader. She is wholeheartedly involved in the honor society, Phi Theta Kappa, and with student advocacy, as well as continuing her commitment to community organizations while completing her degree work at Hocking College.  Alicia sets a positive example for all students, as she serves as mentor through the Learning Connection, a program supporting first-generation, low-income college students. She mentors peers in academics and helps them to achieve their goals in school and in life by demonstrating the ideal integration of formal education and civic engagement. She is also dedicated to ensuring that children in this poverty-stricken region of Appalachia are well-nourished and receive gifts during the Christmas season.
